Break With Realism

Agora Gallery, NY

September 2 - September 22, 2017

Noelle Kristine's A Yosemite Reflection is a tightly cropped composition in which natural hues reverberate with otherwordly intensity. In Shadow Dance, the artist documents the dramatic play of light and color in her journeyed terrain before digitally manipulating the image to mirror itself. This alteration is also an intervention, a way of inserting her presence into an otherwise impossibly pristine landscape. On the contrary, Sunshine Hits the Dunes is a straight foward depiction highlighting the spectacle of an untouched topography. The composition appears almost abstracted by the strong contrast of sun and shadow on a sheer cliff of rippling sand. Finally, Slicin' Sand is a rare figurative image; the remote scenery is playfully activated by a single leaping figure, his enigmatic presence counteracting the solemnity of the vista.

Milano Photo Week Photography Contemporary Cities Spazio Tadini Home Museum, Milan, Italy June 8 - July 8, 2018 Photography ignites an eagerness to explore different cities and to capture the intricacies within it. While some may find a passion for photography through travel, I found a passion for travel through photography. Travel has humbled me and expanded my perception of my place in the world. My work behind the lens catapulted me into a lifestyle of constant travel, taking me on visual adventures within my own hometown, Los Angeles and to destinations like Cuba. As a photographer, the most gratifying experience that it gives you freedom to go anywhere in the world with a purpose. It gave me a reason to travel not just to visit places but to explore them and find what makes a place so beautiful in its own way - whether it's through their shape, color and/or form. Lost in Santa Monica and Fireproof Taxi shows an architectural contrast between two contemporary cities and within each photograph, it shows the calm, undisturbed vs a tumultuous scene.
